HVAC FAQs in Cypress, IL
When selecting a new HVAC system for your home in Cypress, IL, it’s important to consider several key factors to ensure you choose the best fit for your needs:
- System size and capacity – An HVAC system that’s too large or too small can lead to inefficiency and higher energy bills.
- Energy efficiency – Look for models with a high SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) or AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) rating to save on energy costs.
- Indoor air quality features – Consider systems with built-in air purifiers or dehumidifiers for better indoor air quality.
- Installation costs – Factor in both the price of the unit and installation fees.
- Maintenance and warranty – Choose a system with good warranty coverage and ease of maintenance.
A professional technician can help you assess your home’s needs and recommend the right HVAC system for optimal comfort and efficiency.
How do I know if my thermostat is causing issues with my HVAC system’s performance?
Your thermostat plays a crucial role in regulating your HVAC system. If it’s malfunctioning, it can cause several issues, including inconsistent temperatures and inefficient operation. Look for these signs:
- Inconsistent temperatures – If the temperature set on the thermostat doesn’t match the room temperature, the thermostat may not be reading correctly.
- Unresponsive system – If the HVAC system doesn’t turn on or off as expected, it could be due to a faulty thermostat.
- Frequent cycling – If your system turns on and off more than usual, it could be caused by incorrect signals from the thermostat.
- Dead batteries or malfunctioning display – If the thermostat display is blank or the system is unresponsive, the issue could be a simple battery replacement or a more serious fault.
- Unusual behavior – Strange behaviors like the thermostat setting changing on its own could indicate a malfunction.
If you notice any of these signs, it’s best to have a professional technician check the thermostat and the HVAC system to ensure everything is functioning properly.
Yes, regular HVAC maintenance can significantly reduce your energy bills in Cypress, IL by ensuring your system operates at peak efficiency. Here’s how:
- Improved efficiency – Cleaning and servicing your system removes dirt, dust, and debris that can cause your HVAC system to work harder, leading to higher energy usage.
- Properly calibrated system – Regular maintenance ensures all components, including the thermostat and sensors, are working correctly, optimizing energy consumption.
- Preventing costly repairs – Identifying and fixing small issues early prevents them from becoming bigger, more expensive problems that can drain energy.
- Extended system lifespan – Well-maintained systems last longer and run more efficiently, saving you money over time.
Scheduling annual HVAC maintenance helps your system run smoothly, reducing energy waste and lowering your utility bills.
To keep your HVAC system running efficiently and avoid costly repairs, it's recommended to schedule HVAC maintenance at least once a year for both heating and cooling systems. Specifically:
- Spring – Schedule a maintenance check for your air conditioner to ensure it’s ready for the hot summer months.
- Fall – Schedule maintenance for your furnace or heating system to prepare for the colder weather.
If you use your HVAC system extensively, consider biannual maintenance (spring and fall) for better performance. Regular maintenance improves energy efficiency, extends the life of your system, and helps prevent unexpected breakdowns.

Addressed comfort complaints in master bedroom. Found partially collapsed flex duct restricting airflow. Replaced damaged section and properly supported remaining ducts. Balanced system by adjusting dampers. Also found and replaced dirty filter (severely restricted). Room now maintaining temperature within 2° of thermostat setting. Customer very satisfied with improved comfort.
Estimate for new unit and duct work.
Cause of the issue appears to be the control board inside the furnace. The plug on the board is coming detached causing the board to not recognize the rollout switches. Customer wants a price on a new control board. Customer may also want a price on a new system and duct work.
2023 Fall Check Up PCSA New No heat. Cause of the issue was a dirty flame sensor. Cleaned flame sensor. Checked wiring. Burners are a little dirty but operating normally. Condensate pan gasket is beginning to leak and could present problems in the future. Replaced filter. No CO detected inside the house. System is operating normally at this time. Customer may want a price on a new system and some duct work in the near future.
Cause of the issue was a bad outdoor capacitor. Replaced capacitor. System is operating normally at this time.
Cause of the issue is a bad capacitor and a burned wire. Both will need to be replaced for system to work normally. Cost of the capacitor would be $151.
